Katie Johnson has officially joined the investor relations team at AEW.

Boston–AEW Capital Management announced that Katie Johnson Bergen has joined the firm’s Investor Relations group as a senior Client Relationship Manager.

In her role, Ms. Bergen will be responsible for capital formation, client service and broader firm initiatives with AEW’s 25-member global Investor Relations team. Based in AEW’s Denver office, she reports to Jay Struzziery, AEW Managing Director and Head of North America Investor Relations.

“Katie’s extensive background in capital strategies for real estate operations and investment management, combined with her expertise in distressed and special situations investing through both structured and equity positions, adds significant value to our Investor Relations team,” said Mr. Struzziery. “She brings deep experience in fundraising, client service and relationship building to our team.”

Jon Martin, AEW CEO, said, “Katie has a demonstrated understanding of investors’ goals and the challenges that current market conditions can present. Her broad experience in relationship building and knowledge of both private and public markets will help us continue to strengthen our Investor Relations team while continuing to offer the highest level of client service.”

Ms. Bergen joins AEW from Corten Real Estate, where she served as a Principal of Capital Strategies. Before that, she was Senior Director of Capital Strategies and Investor Relations at Sagard Real Estate (formerly known as EverWest Real Estate Investors), successfully fundraising for core through valueadded mandates and debt strategies. Prior to Everwest, she spent eight years at CenterSquare Investment Management in a variety of roles, most recently as Director of Capital Markets, focused on capital raising for multiple strategies.

Ms. Bergen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Wiscons in Madison, double majoring in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics, and Finance, Investment, and Banking. She serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA) as Vice President of Finance. She is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) and its Capital Markets Affinity Group. She is a Founder and Board Member of Project Elevation, an institutional real estate industry group supporting inclusion initiatives, and a Founder and Executive Committee Member of Real Estate Women of Denver (REWD), a peer group for investors, consultants, and GPs. Additionally, Ms. Bergen was featured in the 2021 Wisconsin School of Business Magazine as one of the “8 Under 40 to Watch”.
