Boston-based company King Street Properties has announced the lease signing of Ascend Elements for a new 101,000 square foot building located at 39 Jackson Road, part of the Pathway Devens campus. Ascend Elements is a company that is revolutionizing the production of sustainable lithium-ion battery materials. This lease marks the full occupancy of the first phase of King Street’s Pathway Devens development.

Ascend Elements joins other clean energy firms Commonwealth Fusion Systems and Electric Hydrogen, as well as biotechnology cleanroom provider Azzur Group, at Pathway Devens. The location will serve as Ascend Elements’ world headquarters and tech center. The company is also constructing a $1 billion manufacturing facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Ascend Elements has received funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and other private sources.

Tyson Reynoso, Managing Director & Partner at King Street Properties, stated that Ascend Elements’ mission aligns with their goal of creating science campuses that help solve human health and climate issues. The addition of Ascend Elements further solidifies Devens as a top destination for advanced manufacturing in the Greater Boston area. Since launching the project, King Street Properties has leased over 550,000 square feet at the Devens campus in just three years.

Mike O’Kronley, CEO of Ascend Elements, expressed excitement about the relocation and the opportunity for expansion in the engineered battery materials industry. The Pathway Devens location offers excellent amenities and a community of cleantech and biotech innovators.

Pathway Devens, a purpose-built development spanning 45 acres, also includes an 8,300 square foot amenity center and taproom set to open in Q1 2024. The amenity center will feature a fitness center, lounge area, game room, and café, creating a welcoming environment for workers and the surrounding community. John Carroll III and Kevin Brawley of Colliers represented Ascend Elements in the transaction, while Brian McKenzie and Alex Plaistead of CBRE represented King Street Properties.
