Should you really move to Boston, Massachusetts? Today, we’ll walk you through 12 CONS of moving to the Boston area! Let’s talk about a few of the downsides of living in Boston today. There are a TON of pros – don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t live here if the pros didn’t outweigh the cons – but it’s worth noting that there are a few things that people don’t like about living here… Because everywhere has SOME negatives!

WEATHER
YUP, it gets cold here! We enjoy all the seasons.
EXPENSE
We are a world class city. And there is a cost for that.
DENSITY
We know how to get a lot out of a little!
TRAFFIC
It’s a 7 day a week type of challenge.
DRIVING & PARKING
Did I mention we are a dense city? Yes. Parking comes at a premium.
MASS TRANSPORTATION
This one will take a little while to get used to. It won’t make sense at first… Or really ever.
TAXES
It is Taxachusetts after all… But the city of Boston really isn’t bad. No income tax and a very reasonable property tax rate.
REPUTATION OF UNFRIENDLINESS
Darn it… We are reserved. Not rude.
VERY “NEIGHBORHOODY”
There are many different flavors of ice cream to appease everyone’s tastes… We have a lot of different neighborhoods that are sure to check a lot of boxes.
LOVE THEIR SPORTS TEAMS
Let’s go Bruins, Sox, Celtics and Patriots!!! Or else…
NO HAPPY HOUR & LACKLUSTER NIGHT LIFE
Bars close at 1 or 2am. Bad thing when I was younger. Makes complete sense now that I am old.

Hmmmm… I agree with this list. But on the whole, the negatives outweigh the positives for me. The expense, the weather, the traffic, and the attitude were all enough for me to say “so long, Beantown!”

I’m sorry did he say 700,000 people in a 48 Sq mile area?? Oh my goodness is that dense! I also just Googled that the metro population in Boston is roughly 5-6 Million people in about 100 Sq miles. That is even more dense considering say Washington DC metro 6 Million and Philly around 7 Million. But the Sq miles of those cities is 3 -4 times the size as Bostons. Boston is a very dense congested city. No wonder why driving there is impossible. 😮😮😮😮😮
Forget Massachusetts , unless you want to move to a communist state . If your a liberal, snowflake, piece of shit, gun hater, you'll love it here. Worst state there is , besides that other communist state california. The governor is useless, loves to let illegal criminals in . DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!!! We are moving out of this tax loving state in 3 years, as soon as I can retire. Move south, where you still keep have your own things and live freely.

Every one of your points aren't objective. I will just take one, the MBTA. You did not really provide an issue there, only to talk about about the different lines. Sure, the Silver Line is a joke, everyone knew that. Other than that, you did not really present a problem. If you want to talk about the line being confusing, well, there are plenty of apps that you can use to help you navigate. And if you don't know how to do that, then…well…then you are just…stupid.

Hogie? Are you talking about Pittsburgh? Subs in eastern Mass, grinders in western Mass. And ask a Boston native where Springfield is, they're going to put it a couple miles from Seattle, LA or Hawaii cause it's outside 128 which is the great unknown.

Taxachusetts – ya, forty+ years ago. Those days are long gone. Massachusetts usually ranks in the middle of all states (around #25) for overall tax burden.
I visited Boston in 1983, in Springbrake, it was Great ,I remerber that I visited some places like, Nine ,Metro in Lansdowne Street, Newbury Street, the Lennox and Prudential center, Boston University, the wonderful Fenway and Common Park , Wellesley and I remember the Green line, I think is an Amazing City..!!

I went to a club one night off of Com Ave, 3 of us white, 2 black. We tried to get in..They asked for ID’s , they looked at our licenses and said, Come in… Then the black guys were asked for 3 ID’s each..
I said, Screw This… We all left…
This was pretty helpful for me. I'm looking to visiting Boston in a few months and maybe moving if I like it (My states rent cost are beyond out of control). I just need to see if I can find a place I can afford, but I do work for a pretty big company (compass group) so it should not be a problem. Plus I like cities. 😛
