FHFA Says Home Prices Up 6.3% from Last Year

According to the most recent Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) House Price Index (HPI), home prices increased by 0.2% in April. Additionally, there was a 6.3% increase in house prices from April 2023 to April 2024. The FHFA HPI is a comprehensive collection of public house price indexes that track changes in single-family home values across all 50 states and over 400 American cities dating back to the mid-1970s.

Dr. Anju Vajja, Deputy Director for FHFA’s Division of Research and Statistics, noted that U.S. house prices continued to rise in April, albeit at a slower rate due to slight increases in mortgage rates and housing inventory. The housing market is showing signs of normalization.
