According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 187k, in August 2023, with the unemployment rate rising to 3.8%. The BLS said Employment continued to trend up in health care, leisure and hospitality, social assistance, and construction.
