According to the most recent CoreLogic Home Price Insights (HPI) report, home prices nationwide, including distressed sales, rose by 5.3% year over year in April 2024, which is consistent with March. However, CoreLogic predicts that by Spring 2025, national price gains will slow to 3.4%, with only a few states seeing increases of more than 6%. Dr. Selma Hepp, chief economist for CoreLogic, stated that the growth in home prices is slowing due to the comparison with a strong spring in 2023, and the increase in mortgage rates this year has dampened some of the usual spring homebuyer demand.
