NAHB Eye on Housing Report: Student Housing Construction Investment on the Rise
A recent report from the NAHB’s Eye on Housing reveals that private fixed investment in student dormitories increased by 2.2% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of $3.9 billion in Q3 of 2024. The report highlights the rebound in private fixed investment post-pandemic, as college enrollments slowly stabilize and recover from pandemic-driven declines. The return of students to campuses is essential for effective in-person learning, which in turn boosts the student housing sector.
“Demand for student housing is growing robustly, as total enrollment in postsecondary institutions is projected to increase 8% from 2020 to 2030, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.”
