Gov. Healey Helps Celebrate Latest Grants from Cummings Properties Affiliate

WOBURN, MA– The Cummings Foundation’s annual Grant Winner Celebration was a lively event at TradeCenter 128 in Woburn, MA, on Thursday evening. Confetti, horns, and banners added to the festive atmosphere as 400 attendees gathered, including Governor Maura Healey and Cummings Foundation co-founders Joyce and Bill Cummings. The Foundation, affiliated with Cummings Properties, manages an 11 million-square-foot portfolio donated by Joyce and Bill Cummings, with all rental profits dedicated to charitable purposes.

Governor Healey commended the unique philanthropic model of the Cummings Foundation, praising the Cummings for their innovative and courageous leadership. She also recognized the 150 nonprofits that will benefit from $30 million in newly announced grants from the Foundation, acknowledging them as the lifeblood of communities and champions of worth and dignity for all individuals.

Among the attendees were representatives from the Builders of Color Coalition, celebrating a $75,000 grant that will support diversity and opportunities in real estate. The grant-winning organizations this year cover a range of causes, including immigrant and refugee services, education, housing and food insecurity, workforce development, social justice, and mental health services.

Joyce Vyriotes, the executive director of the Cummings Foundation, expressed admiration for the dedicated nonprofit professionals and volunteers who work tirelessly to address community issues. The Foundation awarded three-year grants of up to $300,000 each to 125 organizations, with an additional 25 nonprofits receiving 10-year funding ranging from $300,000 to $1 million each. As one of the largest private foundations in New England, the Cummings Foundation has contributed over $500 million to greater Boston nonprofits. The Grant Winner Celebration was a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to supporting and empowering communities.
