Housing Starts & Permits Rebound in May
The U.S. government is reporting that privately‐owned housing starts in May were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 974k, which is 4.3% higher than April’s revised number. May’s rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 291k. Privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1,220,000, which was 14.4% higher than April’s revised number. Authorizations of units in buildings with five units or more were at a rate of 434k in April.
